Leon Scott Kennedy's Outfits: He's Dressed to Kill & He's on bad mutha. Well. Sometimes.

Leon Scott Kennedy has some truly unfortunate outfits. Let's take a look, shall we?

Resident Evil 2, R.P.D Uniform

Leon's default outfit is his Raccoon City Police Department Uniform, a comical little outfit to say the least. I wrote a long, detailed and point-by-point description of this uniform in the past, and for good reason. You can pick out any element of this outfit and find something to laugh about.

Regardless, there's something cute and endearing about Leon's original costume, and I'm excited that we get to see it rendered in gorgeous detail twice, as an alternate costume for Leon in Resident Evil 4 for Play Station 2, and in the upcoming Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles.

The outfit is also a bit of a mystery, as no one other police officer in the game wears it, they wear summer uniforms instead.

Resident Evil 2, Skull Jacket

This "casual" outfit does Leon no favors, and really doesn't suit his personality at all. I've played through the game with him in this outfit only once, I couldn't do him the injustice a second time. The main feature of this outfit is the leather jacket with a skull on the back. This outfit, along with the outfit listed below, changes his shooting style with the handgun.

Resident Evil 2, Tank Top

The second alternative outfit a purple tank top with cargo pants and an R.P.D cap. And my god, does it look gay. What kind of cruel joke where they trying to play here? I'll eventually play through the whole game with him in this outfit, but I haven't been able to do it without switching him back to his uniform, which is very sexy by comparison.

Resident Evil 2, The Nintendo 64 version

I've never played the Nintendo 64 version of Resident Evil 2, but according to my research, Leon's two alternate costumes are replaced with a S.T.A.R.S. uniform and another consisting of camouflage pants with T-shirt, leather vest and sunglasses. I'd love to see Leon with sunglasses, anyone have pictures to share? Let me know.

Resident Evil 4, Agent Uniform

In Resident Evil 4, Leon wears brand 5.11 Tactical pants in Charcoal, and brand 5.11 crew shirt. Additionally he wears a brown bomber jacket which is most closely matched by the B3/B9 style flyer/bomber jackets. Leon loses the sexy jacket early in the game, but one can argue that the less clothes he's wearing in this installment, the better. When playing Ada's scenario Separate Ways , you discover the unknown fate of the jacket; it was stolen by a Ganado when Leon and Luis were captured at the end of Chapter 1-1.

Leon also wears a lot of equipment and gear around his waist. This includes a buttpack (official name, laugh all your want), double pistol mag pouches, navigation light, radio pouch, and rappel. He has a drop leg holster strapped to his thigh and he wears a brown leather shoulder holster as well.

Later in the game, you can purchase a Tactical Vest, which puts a black assault vest and assorted gear on over Leon's standard outfit, the vest reduces damage by 30% and looks pretty intimidating.

The outfit looks sexy on him, but it's pretty bland. Not much to say about it.

Resident Evil 4, R.P.D. Uniform

The player can also unlock the "Classic R.P.D." uniform from Resident Evil 2. I adore seeing this outfit with lovely texture. And really, nothing suits Leon more than his original outfit.

Resident Evil 4, Mobster

Dear God...This is the best alternative outfit in video game history, I adore mafia-styled anything and 20s era clothing. And pinstripes. The outfit also reminds me of Micheal Jackson's awesome Smooth Criminal.

This costume is only available in the PS2 and Wii ports of Resident Evil 4. This classic mafia-style outfit that is unlocked along with the Chicago Typewriter after the player clears the "Seperate Ways" scenario.

Since the Typewriter has infinite ammo, Leon will simply tilt his hat when the reload button is pushed and if the player hits reload four times, Leon will throw his hat in the air and catch it. (cute!) Wearing the Mafia costume will change Leon's pose on the attache case screen while the Typewriter is equipped and will change the Typewriter's magazine from a standard box magazine to a drum magazine. The mafia outfit also changes the look of Leon's knife. Instead of a combat knife, it becomes a switchblade (!!!) to complete the authentic criminal motif. This change is purely cosmetic, and does not affect the performance of the knife at all.

I loved this costume so much I had it featured on this website's index for eh, 2 years or so? Again, I must emphasize that I'm a huge fan of this era, and Leon looks so Capital 'P', P.I.M.P. And no Resident Evil character is for befitting of "PIMP" status these days.

Resident Evil: Degeneration

Leon's attire is nearly identical to what he wears in Resident Evil 4. In this version he wears a new leather jacket (a Ganado stole the last one after all, hopefully he can claim that as a tax deduction) a lighter gray "5.11" shirt, and different-colored pants. Yup, still boring. Snore.
